The latest assignment in my Digital Media class has been to create protagonist using only photographs and then use Final Cut Pro to convert the photos into a movie.
I really liked this assignment. I’ve always been a storyteller, so it was interesting to create a story knowing I could only use images. To me, the most important part of the project was having a protagonist, antagonist, conflict, action, and a resolution.
In this photo, my protagonist, my friend Grace, is calling her friends to see who can get together for dinner.
It was clear from the beginning that Grace was the protagonist because she was in the very first image. After that, as conflict arose and action was taken, she remained the center of the story’s focus.
Working with my “models” was quite funny; they were usually over dramatized their facial expressions and body language when I reminded them that my story couldn’t have words. I suppose the biggest challenge we faced was to accomplish this without coming off too cheesy!

This was such a sad photostory because i really feel sorry for Grace, not only because she was in my Elon 101 but also because no one wants to go to dinner with her. It made me feel so bad so great job with getting the audience to have a reaction to the video. One thing would be to look out for better facial expressions but just something minor. Awesome job!

You choose great music to go along with your photostory. I liked the plot and thought your models did a great job depicting the story. Just watch out for focus next time.

Great pictures, but I didn’t really get the story. I thought that she was going to be late for the study group and then she had all these plans, not nothing to do. Adding a few more pictures in between could have made it flow better. Good job!

Nice story. It was a little bit unclear until about half way through, then I was able to appreciate it! I liked the pictures and your models did a nice job.

Good job, you had great music to go with your story and your storyline was good. I liked the resolution at the end of the story..I think if the focus had been a bit more clear it would be even better! Nice job!

This photostory was probably the easiest to follow out of the entire class. The direct visuals supported the story nicely and allowed for your well thought out idea to reach fruition.

I have been in the protagonist’s story so many times. I never have anyone to eat with because all of my friends have different schedules than me. You made it very easy for the viewer to relate to the protagonist.

I enjoyed your video because this is a common issue at college so the protagonist was very likable. But by the same regard your antagonist wasn’t clear.

This was such a cute story! It was very easy to follow and the models facial expressions helped to tell the story. Some of the photos were out of focus, but otherwise great job!

Awesome job! I liked her conflict, but my favorite picture was of the protagonist sitting in Nades by herself with all the other booths empty – I really felt for her. Great job!
